2014 Adoptions
Intruder originally came in from a kennel at the Mobile AL track. He is a brindle male that raced at 66lbs. He was born on May 24th 2009 so is 5 years old. His sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his dam is Sinead. He raced 134 races at Mobile and at Victory land in AL and was a good racer, racing a lot at A level. He is a very pretty brindle with some white on his face. Intruder is very friendly and likes to give kisses to people he meets. He does potty nicely on leash so may do fine in a home that doesn't have a fenced yard. He is a calm, happy guy that has been good with the other dogs and cats in his foster home. He did need some supervision and some correction at first because he did show a little interest in the cats but he learned quickly. He got bitten by a little dog and just tried to get away from it - he is that sweet. He has learned what squeeky toys are and loves to play with them. He is a very good boy that has been really well behaved in his foster home. Intruder was adopted in December of 2013 and has been in an adoptive home since then. He is very well behaved and loved member of the family unfortunately they are having to move and cannot take Intruder with them. So Intruder is looking for another home. Intruder crates well and is quiet in his crate so may do well in an apartment. |

Blue is a rare blue, relatively large male greyhound. He is a beautiful, deep gray color with a gorgeous blaze of white on his chest. Blue is a wonderful boy and will make someone a great pet. He is well-accustomed to living in a house and has not made a single mistake in his foster home. He shows no interest in chewing on things and only shows passing interest in tempting items on a countertop or table. Blue listens very well to his humans and quickly responds to a firm "NO!" as well as a happy "let's go" or "come along, Blue". Blue loves people! He wants to wrap his body around everyone who approaches him and seems to think that everyone wants to approach and pet him. He has that fantastic greyhound personality that loves and wants to be around people but is not needy and readily goes to his bed when his foster mom is busy. Blue loves to bury his head in people's laps and hug them with his body for attention and petting. This is really a wonderful boy! Blue does great on a leash and loves going on walks. He is nervous when walking around traffic but does not panic. He has been nervous traveling in a car in the past, but is doing better at that now. Although he still seems a little nervous in a car, he is now asks to go in the car and is doing much better riding in a car. Blue has had an unusual life for an ex-racing greyhound. After a short period on the Palm Beach Race Track, he was, unfortunately, in a hoarding house for a few years with around 40 other dogs and cats. We think that in the hoarding house he was picked on by other dogs and, although he shows no aggression toward other dogs, he does seem to end a fight if another dog starts it. Because of this, we think that Blue will do best in a home without small children or other dogs. If you are interested in Blue, let us know and we will tell you all about his background. Blue is a wonderful, happy boy who bounces a little with happiness and then quickly settles down for hugs and petting. He will be a wonderful addition for the lucky family that chooses him |

Roxi just arrived from the Orange Park Track in Jacksonville Florida. She raced at 61lbs and is a pretty brindle girl. She raced 53 races in Abilene KS, Wheeling WV and most recently Orange Park. She broke a toe in her last race but is expected to heal up just fine. Her sire is RC Its Alpinesun and her dam is Big Ego. Roxi will turn 3 on October 3rd. She has a cute puppy face. Roxi has been quiet in her crate. She rode well on the trip from the vet and just laid down. Roxi passed her cat and small dog test. She is a very waggy friendly gal that didn't seem to be too overwhelmed by her transition to home life. She is doing really good with the toddler in her foster home and walks throught the house with him holding the leash. Very cute. Roxi was re-homed by God's Greyts in Florida after her family was no longer able to care for her after a move there. |

Mo and his brother Larry originally came to us from a farm in Wheeling WV. They never went to the race track or actually raced. Their sire is Iceman Brutus and their dam is WJS Raina Jem. The brothers will turn 4 on September 19th. Mo is the darker of the two brothers and is the more laid back of the two boys. He is very friendly and good on leash. Mo never had one potty accident in his foster home and is very well behaved and never gets into trouble. He is a very tiny little guy at just 62 lbs. Mo loves to snuggle and is very loving. Mo loves playing but does have some arthritis in his knees starting that prevented him from racing. We have him on supplements for his knees. Mo passed his initial cat test but has wanted to play too rough with cats in one home. Not trying to kill them, just playing but we think he would do better in a home without cats or maybe in a home with a really mean cat that would set him straight from the beginning about appropriate play. Mo and his brother Larry have been in an adoptive home for a year and were returned to us. They were kept in an outbuilding all night instead of staying in the house with their family and were barking. |

KB just arrived from the Orange Park track in Jacksonville but she also raced at Tri-State in WV and in Abilene KS. She raced 74 races and raced at 62lbs. She turned 3 on October 7th and her sire is TMC's Remedy and her dam is PTL Banana Cake. KB passed her cat test at the track and did great with a small dog in her foster home so should be able to live in a home with cats and small dogs. She traveled well on the trip to the vet and mostly just laid down in the van. KB is a pretty, calm girl but does enjoy playing with the other dogs. She is good on leash and is a very, sweet, happy, outgoing girl. She was an easy well behaved girl so we gave her to a first time foster home. This is a great gal. |

Greer just arrived from D'Arcy Kennels at Derby Lane in Florida. He raced 16 races but had a broken leg on May 16th which ended his race career. His owner had it fixed and splinted and got him healed up at the racing kennel. After he healed enough he was cleared to be transported to us and will be available for adoption as soon as his splint comes off. His sire is Lonesome Cry and his dam is Bow Grasshopper. He is a littermate to Grant that is also available. Greer just turned 2 on June 4th. He raced at 73lbs. More as we get to know him. |

Grant just arrived from Derby Lane kennel in St Petersburg FL. He only raced 14 races. He was showing a lot of promise as a racer until he got bumped by another dog in the first turn and took a tumble. After that, he decided it was better to just stop at the first turn to avoid trouble. At the training track he continued to run very well and very fast and was very focused on the lure. His trainer felt he might have great potential as a lure courser since he is young and very fast. Grant is an energetic, young guy that is very friendly, happy and loving. He seems like a pretty smart guy. Grant is pretty confident but seems like he is also a sensitive guy that will do everything he can to avoid a bad situation or trouble and isn't likely to make the same mistake twice. Grant just turned 2 on June 4th. He raced at 71lbs. His sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his dam is Bow Grasshopper. His littermate is Greer that is also available for adoption. He passed his small dog test and passed his cat test with no interest in either. He is a very sweet, loving guy that has done well in his foster home, quickly learning house manners and potty training. He learned a doggy door right away. So far he prefers carpet to hardwood. |

Trigger raced at Southland in Arkansas then moved to Derby Lane in Florida. He raced a total of 48 races before a broken leg ended his career. He had surgery in Florida before he came to our group to recover. He will not be available for adoption until his break is fully healed and he is cleared by our vets, hopefully at the beginning of September. Trigger is a big boy racing at 82lbs. He just turned 3 on July 15th. Trigger's sire is Atascocita Leroy and his dam is Nylajo. He is described as a happy, higher energy guy. One of his former track trainers that has moved to this area asked to foster him. He remembered her and was SO happy to see her when she picked him up. He is being adopted by his former trainer! |

Tully just arrived from the Wheeling WV race track. He race 138 races there and was very good racing at AA level and winning lots of races. He is certainly a star and we feel like we should be asking for his autograph. He turned 4 on March 23rd and raced at 73lbs. His sire is the very famous Dodgem By Design and his dam is Tovi the Proud. We placed his littermate Bawdy Miss (Taylor) and her adoptive family was planning to adopt Tully too. They have cats though and he was way too interested in chasing cats to be able to live with them. So he ended up being available for adoption after all. Tully is a friendly guy that walks on leash well and loves people. He seems like a calm guy that would be an easy addition to the right home. He does fine with small dogs. Tully has even been fine with all the commotion on walks through downtown. Tully is stunning with the dark red hair, dark sabling on his neck and face and even a brownish nose instead of a black one. He is normally great in the crate but does yodel a bit in excitement when he hears you come home so probably wouldn't be the best dog for an apartment. This is a sweet loving guy that is very well behaved and is doing fantastic in foster care. |

Sierra originally raced at Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville and Daytona Beach in Florida for a total of 58 races. She was a good racer and won some A level races. She raced at 64lbs. Her sire is Mulberry Lazer and her dam is Mulberry Shana. She turned 2 on January 10th. Sierra's trainer said she was just a little bit timid at first but was friendly after she got to know you. She warmed up quickly to her foster family too. Sierra traveled well on the trip from the vet and laid down most of the trip. She walks great on leash without pulling. She passed her cat and small dog tests too without any interest in chasing either and has been living in a home with cats. Sierra has been in an adoptive home for nearly 2 months but is still nervous around them. She has also been too loud in her kennel during the day when one of the family members is trying to sleep. So she is looking for a new family that will be patient with her and give her the time she needs to overcome her shyness and bond with them. Because she does complain about being crated she would not be suitable for apartment living. |

She raced at 64lbs and turned 2 on Feb 2nd. Her sire is Freak Show and her dam is KB's Yeoman. Sparks is a cute, loving, young girl that can be playful. She paid no attention to the cat during her cat test so should be fine to live in a home with cats or small dogs. More as we get to know her. |

Dis is an unusual fawn brindle that almost has a slivery cast to his fur. He raced 164 races at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL. He was good and raced at the top level of A. Dis raced at 73lbs and just celebrated his 4th birthday on July 12th. His sire is Kelsos Vicar and his dam is Dream Fannie. Dis is a perfect gentleman according to his trainer and everyone that has been around him. He is calm and friendly and kennels well and gets along well with others. Dis has already been in a home briefly but was returned to the track adoption kennel after a short time. The family he was with felt he needed to be around other dogs instead of being an only dog. We will see how he does by himself when we get him but he seems to be good in just about every situation so we think he will be fine. He did pass his cat test too |

Ricky is a mid sized black male that raced at 72lbs. His sire is the famous Trent Lee which makes him a half brother to a lot of dogs we have placed. His Dam is MRL Race Nite. He is a full littermate to one of our volunteer's dogs and he has the same bubbly, happy personality as his sister. He raced 35 races starting out in Abilene KS, then going to Derby Lane in Florida and finally Orange Park in Jacksonville Florida where he just retired from. Ricky just turned 3 on January 16th. Ricky passed his small dog test and kid test so could live with either. He still needs to be tested with cats. Ricky is excellent with other dogs. He loved playing with a greyhound puppy in one of his foster homes. This is a sweet loving guy that has an excellent personality. |

She retired from racing in August of 2011 and then went back to the farm in Kansas to become a mom. She had 3 puppies in her first litter in 2012 that are now racing. Rumble is a beautiful red brindle that raced at 61lbs. Her birthday is October 13th. We also placed her mom Wheelie Cool who was a very sweet girl. Her Sire is Maryville Rumble. Rumble is retired from racing and being a mom now and ready to start her new career holding down a couch cushion at your house. Her trainer said she was a joy to have in his kennel, calm, well behaved, sweet girl. Rumble tested heartworm postive at our vets and had successful heartworm treatment. She has tested negative for heartworms and is ready to be adopted now. She has been fostered with cats and small dogs so should do well in a home with either. |

Sam just retired from Derby Lane in Florida May 22nd. He had 118 races and was pretty good. He is a large boy that raced at 83lbs. His sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is USS Top Dolly. We placed his littermate Missing You too. Sam will turn 4 on October 21st. He came in as a special order for one of our families that has been watching him race and waiting for him to retire so he is not available for adoption. Sam passed his cat test and his small dog test so is fine to live with either. He has been friendly with the children he has met. Sam is a bouncy, friendly boy. He is the rare greyhound that could be a watch dog. If he hears or see something outside that doesn't belong there he has a big deep growly bark. |

Anna just arrived from the Sanford Orlando race track. She raced 67 races there and at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL. Anna broke her right hock in a race on May 12th. She is expected to make a good recovery but is on veterinary hold until she comes out of her splint and is cleared by our vet to be adopted. Anna is a beautiful nearly black girl with just a few orange stripes. Very striking and unusual. She raced at 67lbs. Her sire is Count Ivan and her dam is Zam Solar Limit. She turned 3 on February 2nd. Anna passed her cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. She also has done well with the kids she met |

Suzanne is a gorgous, white girl with red spots that raced at 61lbs. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Gable Ton. She just turned 5 on May 6th. Suzanne raced 168 races at Tri State in WV and Orange Park in Florida. She was a good racer, racing mostly at A level. She is a friendly girl with ears that sometimes stand straight up when she is excited. She seems pretty confident and curious and is very friendly and sweet. She did not pass her cat test at the track so needs a home with no kitties. She is fine with small dogs and is living in a foster home with a couple of them. She is a happy, friendly, well behaved girl that her foster dad described as "a sweet old soul". She does complain a bit about being left alone in a crate so probably wouldn't do well as an apartment dog. She is very smart and figured out the doggy door in her foster home right away. She gets along great with other male and female dogs in her foster home so would be a good choice for a family with several other dogs. She would be an easy addition for a first time greyhound owner and has been in a foster home for a little while so is already home acclimated. This is a great gilr and so pretty!!! |

Woody is a a beautiful red brindle, mid sized, male that raced at 74lbs. He turned 3 on December 7th and raced all his 68 races at Orange Park Race Track in Florida. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey. His dam is Miss Merle. He is friendly and sweet and lived with small dogs in his foster home. He should also be fine with cats. He has been in a home since March but wasn't good with a young child that crawled on him. Although Woody loves kids, he needs a new home with no kids or well behaved, older kids that understand that sleeping dogs shouldn't be crawled on or bothered. He is very devoted to people and very loving, choosing to follow his people around. Woody is very calm and well behaved with good house manners, so should make an easy addition to a home. He complains sometimes when left in his crate so might not be a good apartment dog. This is a sweet handsome boy. |

Eddie just arrived from the Orlando race track. We have been waiting on him to arrive because we placed a couple of his littermates, his sister Leslie and his brother Lazaras. When we heard he had the same great personality we made sure we got him too. Eddie is a gorgeous, shiny, black male with white toes and a white tail tip. His sire is the very famous Flying Penske and his dam is Kelso's Isabella. Eddie raced at 76lbs and only raced 8 races. He is young and won't turn 2 until May 4th. His trainers say that he is very smart like his littermates. Although he was at the track only a short time he quickly learned how to open the latches on the gates. Eddie is very calm and good on leash. He travels very nicely in a van and just lays down for the trip with no stress at all. He is friendly and doesn't seem to be a marker at all. He was fine with the small white dog he met in his foster home but still needs to be tested with cats. Eddie has liked the children he has met. More as we get to know him. |

Bandita just arrived from the Orange Park race track. She broke her hock on April 24th in a race and was vetted and splinted there. The leg seems to be healing well but still needs to be splinted a bit longer so Bandita won't be available until her splint is off. She is expected to make a good recovery. She has 53 races listed at Southland in Arkansas and at Orange Park in Florida. Bandita's sire is Lewis And Wax and her dam is Fuzzys Rushmore. She raced at 62lbs and won't turn 4 until October 29th. Bandita did not pass her cat test so needs a home without cats. She did pass her small dog test and likes kids so should be fine to live with either. We think Bandita is the cutest thing with the spots on her eyes that almost look like big eyebrows. This is a sweet happy girl! |

Irene just arrived from the Sanford Orlando race track. She has 60 races listed, half in Birmingham AL and half at Sanford Orlando in Fl. She raced at 65lbs. Irene is a beautiful black girl whose sire is Trent Lee and dam is Kelsos Isabella. She is quiet, calm and well behaved and is being fostered in a townhouse so would be a good dog for apartment living. Irene will celebrate her 3rd birthday on August 27th. Her foster home says she is very sweet and very well behaved and has settled in wonderfully. She is very friendly and happy girl. Her foster mom adores her. She has met some cats outside on walks and just stands and looks at them rather than trying to chase them so we are pretty sure she will pass her cat test when she has one. She is fine with small dogs and the kids she has met too. |

Gretchen just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track in Florida. She raced 154 races mostly in Orange Park Florida and was good, getting up to A level races and racing in a few stakes races! She broke her right hock in her last race on April 18th and has been off getting healed up at her race kennel since then. She has made a good recovery and is cleared for adoption now. Gretchen is a tiny brindle girl that raced at just 56lbs. She will turn 4 on July 1st. Her sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and her dam is Lobo Serena. Gretchen is calm and well behaved so far and doing really good in foster care. She is quiet in her kennel and we think she may be a good dog for a townhouse or apartment. She passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. She has done great with the children she has met too. |

Jazz is a black male that is a smaller guy that raced at 71lbs. He just turned 3 on June 10th. His sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and his dam is Jasmine Breeze. Jazz originally retired from the Sanford Orlando race track after only 4 races but he has been in an adoptive home for nearly a year. They have made the difficult decision to rehome Jazz and his housemate Crow due to financial issues. They love both the dogs. Jazz is a friendly guy that likes people and is very calm and laid back. He travels well. He will not go potty on leash and likes to trot around to find that perfect place to go so will need a home with a fenced yard. Jazz gets along well with the other male in his home and seems like he would do well in a home with other males or females. He crates well and crates all night quietly but will softly whine sometimes during the day when he wants to be out or around meal times. He walks well on leash and is very sweet and loving. He is a gorgeous, shiny, black guy that loves people! He likes kids too. He is really more interested in being with people than playing with other dogs most of the time. He will lay down and roll over to get belly rubs. He can be a bit dramatic and will yelp if he even thinks something may hurt. He is a really easy guy that has been very well behaved in his homes. He would be a great dog for a first time greyhound owner or a great addition to an existing pack. He even comes home acclimated already! |

Game is an adorable, red male that just turned 5 on March 27th. He is a smaller guy that raced at 68lbs. His sire is CTW Atom Smasher and his dam is Craigie Glaze. Game is a happy, bouncy boy that is very friendly and pays close attention to the people around him. He seems to want to be with people and will even stop playing with other dogs to get attention from a person, even one he just met. He has never met a stranger and loves everyone. Game is excited to check out everything new on walks so does need some work on not pulling on leash. He has more energy than your average 5 year old greyhound and is actually one of our more energetic boys. If you want a playful, goofy, fun guy this is the one. We marked Game as older kids only just because he is so silly and playful. He loves kids and wants to play with them but with his playful, silly nature is likely to bump an unsteady toddler and knock them down accidentally. He seems like he would be a fun dog for a family with school age kids that wanted a dog that would play with them though. His ideal match would be an active involved family who is searching for a companion that is up for adventure. Game was curious about the cats in his cat test at the track but corrected well and lost interest, so we think he should be trainable with cats with supervision. He has been fine with some small, calm dogs he has met but gets pretty excited when little dogs are running around him. He is on the small side for a male greyhound but with the size difference he might do better living with medium sized dogs he can play with instead of very tiny ones. Game can be talkative when excited so would not be the best dog for apartment living. Got Game? |

Train originally raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville and raced 21 races without winning one. He retired back in May of 2005 and has been in a home since then. Sadly he has been returned to his adoption group and is looking for a new home now. We are helping his group Greyhound Lifesavers find a home for this older gentleman by advertising him on our page for them. He just turned 11 on April 26th. His sire is Craigie Whistler and his dam is Miz Mandy. Train raced at 77lbs. He is a very friendly loving guy that is calm and sweet but still has the occasional burst of playfulness. Train will snuggle at night with you if that is allowed. He is OK with kids but needs a quiet home with older respectful kids. He is still a little too interested in chasing cats and smaller dogs to be able to live with them. He has been an only dog for a long time so would be fine with as an only dog, but he is doing well with the other greyhounds in his foster home. He is good on leash and is quiet and well behaved so may be OK for apartment or townhome living but because of his age would do better with a ground floor apartment. He still likes to run and play sometimes so access to a fenced area for an occasional run would be a plus. Train is a calm older guy that is very well behaved. His only bad habit is that he loves to chew on cardboard boxes. He would love a quiet home where he can snuggle and get plenty of ear scritches. |

Clyde is a dark brindle male that just arrived from a farm in Jacksonville. We have known him since he was tiny and visited and played with his litter while he was growing up. He never raced because he just wasn't that interested in playing with or chasing the lure so never received an official racing name. He has been called Clyde all his life though. He tested cat and small dog safe. The farm he was raised on has small kids that visit frequently so he is used to being around kids. He just turned one year old on December 1st so is only 18 months old now. Clyde is very friendly and happy and pretty laid back and well behaved for a young pup. He seems like a very confident boy that wasn't phased by the move from the farm. He walked perfectly on leash for us and calmly went up to everyone he met wagging his tail. He doesn't have an official racing weight because he never raced but he weighed 69lbs at the vets. He is very tall for his weight though. All legs, very tall and thin! |

Winnie just came in from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. She raced 84 races there. Her sire is Where's King Fly and her dam is U Too Belle. Winnie is a small brindle girl that raced at just 56lbs. She turned 3 on January 26th. She retired from racing in January and was adopted but wasn't comfortable as an only dog so was returned to the track. She will need a home with another greyhound in it. She did pass her cat test so should be fine living with them and small dogs. She has already been home acclimated and is a sweet girl. Winnie seemed to like the kids she met so should do fine in a home with children. |

Boy originally came from a kennel closing at Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is a very unusual looking sable fawn with dark tips on his pale fur. His sire is Tony's Oracle and his dam is Country Ginger. He is a littermate to several other dogs we have placed. Boy turned 2 on September 3rd. He was initially pretty shy when he first arrived but is a happy, waggy boy now. City Boy is a sensitive guy though. He definitely has a preference for women and children and takes longer to get comfortable around men. He has had some bad luck with families since he was retired from racing a year ago. He was returned to us from his first family that has had him for 7 months because they were moving to Dubai for work and cannot take him. He was just returned from his second family after 4 months because they had a schedule change and no longer have time for a dog. He is a good dog and neither return was because of any issue with him. He has lived with small children in previous homes and loves them. He also has done fine with cats and small dogs he has met so can live in a home with them. Boy loves to play in the yard and likes playing with toys. If he does anything wrong he corrects very easily with a loud "NO!". He has become a goofy, happy, silly guy! Give him a rope or ball and he will be your friend for life. His potty training is excellent. He is great in a crate and will potty on leash so might be a good choice for an apartment. |

All are great pets that settle in quickly and have great friendly, easy going personalities that make wonderful pets. Deal passed her cat and small dog tests. She is quiet in her crate and walks great on leash without pulling. She seems a little timid and overwhelmed at first but if she is like the rest of her litter she will be fine in a day or two. |

She turned 4 on January 12th. Tonya Passed her cat test at the track so should be fine to live with cats and small dogs. Chastity is a cute, little, fawn girl that raced at just 58lbs. She raced 112 races at Wheeling Downs and Orange Park and was pretty good, placing in a few Stakes Races. Chastity is a little shy at first but warms up pretty fast. Her sire is Rhythmless and her dam is Bob's Scorpion. Her birthday is July 12th. Chastity did pass her cat test. She has been living in a foster home around small dogs and is good with them too. She has also done very well with the small children she has met so should be fine in a home with them. Chastity settled in quickly to foster care and is very smart and is picking up basic obedience lessons quickly. She will sit for a treat now, down and is working on stays and fetch. Although she can be a little timid at first, she enjoys attention and likes to play with toys. She is very quiet in her kennel and goes potty on leash so would be a good apartment or townhouse dog. Chastity loves to lay in a baby pool on warm days. Chastity does better with other dogs around and seems to follow their example so would be most comfortable in a home with other dogs. |

Rain is a mostly white guy with black brindle spots and lots of freckles. He raced at 75lbs. He will turn 5 on June 29th. His sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his Dam is Solitary Gentle. He was a great racer that even competed in and won Stakes races. He has 90 races to his credit and mostly A and AA which is the top level of racers. He competed at a top track too - Wheeling in WV -where he raced until August of 2012. He had an injury that forced him to retire then, but his racing owner took him back to the farm and completely rehabbed him from his injury before placing him with our adoption group. We placed him in an adoptive home in July of last year but he is being rehomed now because of a move and an apartment that won't take larger dogs. His owner says he can't say enough good things about Rain. He is perfectly behaved, great with cats, kids and small dogs. Loves everyone he meets and is very sweet and social and loves to give kisses. He is content and quiet in his crate and has been living in an apartment. He is quite the ham and has a great personality but is calm and well behaved. He is gorgeous too! |

Sharky just arrived from Orlando Florida. He is an extra large, gorgeous black male that raced at 86lbs. He was born on Nov 4th and his sire is Rhythmless and his dam is JJ's I See Spots. Sharky retired after 97 races at Sanford Orlando, Palm Beach and at Derby Lane race tracks. He had a minor shoulder muscle injury that forced him to retire but that shouldn't effect his life as a pet at all or cause any permanent limp. Sharky did pass his cat and small dog test at the track and is living in a foster home with cats so would be fine in a home with cats or little dogs. Sharky has a wonderful personality. He is calm and pretty good on leash. He is very well behaved and has settled into his foster home wonderfully. He is super sweet and loving and loves people. This stunning, tall guy is ready for a home! |

Heart is a littermate to Rumble that is arriving with her. She was called Racin when she was racing but has been called Heart since at the farm so has two names. She was a better racer than her sister starting out at Derby Lane winning most of her top level A races then moved to Southland in Arkansas to race in AA races. She only raced 45 races and got bumped in a turn when she was at the top of her game and was injured in January of 2010. Heart raced at 67lbs and is a daughter to Wheelie Cool who we also placed. Her sire is Maryville Rumble. She was born Oct 13th of 2006. Heart went to Kansas to became a mom after she was retired and has 4 litters of puppies (26) that are already racing. Now she has retired from being a mom and is ready to start her new career as a pet. Her trainer says both girls were calm well behaved dogs that he loved having the kennel. More as we get to know her. |

Sky Rose is an 8 year old brindle female that has been in a home for years. She only raced a short time and was originally adopted in 2008. Her owner was forced to return her because she is in the hospital battling cancer. Sky Rose has been a great companion and is a wonderful girl and this is very hard for her owner. Sky Rose is a little timid at first but is warming up quickly to her foster family. Even though she is usually a bit shier with men, she is following her foster dad around already. Her sire is Yankee Patriot and her dam is Miss Van Gogh. She turned 8 on December 16th and raced at 60lbs. She weighed in at 62 at the vets. She was checked out by our vet and got everything updated. Sky Rose got a fresh dental, had a few bad teeth pulled and has been cleared for adoption. This is a sweet, girl that has already lived in a home so is home acclimated and has good house manners. She has lived with cats and the cat in her last home curled up and slept with her. She is also great with small dogs and kids. Because she is over 8 years old Sky Rose qualifies for a reduced adoption fee of $200. Be sure to click on her other photos to see some of her when she first retired and was much younger. |

Miles just arrived from the Orange Park track in Jacksonville. He raced 33 races mostly at Orange Park but also a few at Naples Ft Myers. Miles is a handsome, white and fawn guy that raced at 69lbs. His sire is Braska Omni and his Dam is Braska Jiffy. Miles won't turn 3 until September 22nd. He did want to chase cats when tested at the track so needs a home without cats. He is living with a small white dog in his foster home and is great with him. Miles is a happy, playful guy. Very outgoing and loving. He chooses to be with people over other dogs and will stand looking at his foster mom happily wagging his tail and play bowing to her to get attention instead of following the other dogs outside. He is good with the other males in his foster home though. He is excited to see everything new on walks and pulls some so we are working on better leash manners. Miles is going to be a fun, entertaining boy that is going to really show a lot of love to the family that choses him. Miles has crated quietly in his foster home so may be OK as an apartment or townhouse dog. He is a joy to have around. Miles is an exceptionally loving dog that is going to be very devoted to his new family. |

He weighs 69lbs so is on the smaller side for a male. His sire is Lo Norman and dam is Tiger Girl. Taft didn't pass his cat test at the track so probably will need a home without cats. He is calm but did go up to people at the track wanting to interact with them. More as we get to know him. |

Hurricane is a very small guy that raced at just 66lbs. His sire is Kelsos Fusileer and his dam is Cayenne Kauai. Hurricane will turn 3 on June 15th. Trouper is a handsome, brindle boy with cute floppy ears. His photos don't really show the rich red in his coat that is so gorgeous. He raced at 77lbs. He raced 63 races at Tri State in WV and Orange Park in Florida. He is a happy, friendly, waggy guy that is happy to see everyone. He just celebrated his 4th birthday on February 24th. Trouper's sire is Tempo Petrocelli and his dam is Synergy. Trouper showed no interest in the small dogs at the vet clinic when he saw them so should be OK to live in a home with them. He was very curious about the cats in his cat test but corrected well so we hoped he would be cat trainable. In foster care he was a little too interested in the cats for us to be comfortable with though. Since he was borderline and would need a lot of training to be OK with cats we decided to mark him "no cats". Trouper has liked the kids he was exposed to at the race track and in his foster home. He is very smart and figured out how to remove his kennel muzzle at the track. He also figured out the doggy door in his foster home as soon as he saw it. Trouper is a very outgoing guy that is very sweet and loving. He gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home and has a favorite girl that he likes to snuggle with. Trouper has been in his foster home now for a little while so is home acclimated and should be an easy addition to just about any home. This guy has lots of love to give his new family! |

Homey raced for a long time mainly at Sanford Orlando but also at Dubuque. She has 150 races listed on Track info and most of those have video. For some reason only 11 are listed on Greyhound data though. Homey was a good racer and won her last race in early January. She broke her leg exercising between races. Homey had already been in a cast a month before we got her and is expected to be released for adoption in May. She is expected to make a full recovery. Homey is a smaller girl that raced at 57lbs. She will turn 5 on May 15th. Her sire is Dox Out of Peace and her dam is Jewels Homerun. Homey did not pass her cat test at the track so will need a home without cats. She has been very good with the small dogs she has met though. She is a very sweet girl that has a great personality! Very outgoing and loving. She loves to snuggle with people and is a very happy girl that is doing great in her foster home. |

Missy is a tall, black girl that raced at 71lbs. She has a beautiful, shiny coat and is really a head turner. Missy is calm, gentle and sweet. She is a daughter of the famous Kiowa Mon Manny. Her dam is USS Top Dolly. Missy turned 3 on October 21st. She has the cutest little floppy ears that give her a cute puppyish look. Missy is a friendly, social girl that loves people. She is comfortable in about any situation and nothing seems to stress her out. She has lived around kids and likes to be around them. Missy is playful, happy and interested in everything going on around her. She loves being involved in whatever her people do. She is an excellent meet and greet dog that calmly goes up to people for love and does that wonderful greyhound lean/hug. Her only flaw is a high prey drive that causes her to mistake cats and smaller dogs for bunnies so she needs a home without little animals. Medium to large dogs of other breeds are fine. She does get along well with other dogs. Missy does potty on leash so may be fine in a home without a fenced yard. She managed to jump over a 4 foot fence when chasing a cat out of the yard so will need a 5 or 6 foot fence if she goes to home with a fenced yard. Missy has been in our foster program for nearly half of her life waiting on the right home only because she needs a home with no small animals and a high fence or one willing to leash walk her. She was in one adoptive home for a few months but they had a work schedule change which made it impossible to keep her. This is a very sweet girl with an excellent personality that always makes her a star wherever she goes. If your home meets Missy's requirements please consider adopting this sweet gentle girl. She has a lot of love to give and has been waiting on the right family for a very long time. |

Dell came from the Orlando Track. He is a rare blue brindle male that raced at 72lbs. He has 51 races listed at Palm Beach in Florida and Abilene KS. Dell's sire is Iruska All Star and his dam is WW's Oprah. Dell is actually a star, he was very good and won 5 Stakes Races in a row and was the 2012 Bob Balfe Champ! He was injured in a fall in June of last year and was sent back to the farm for rehab and has been there since. It was a sprain to his front ankle but isn't noticeable now at all. When they tried to put him back on a lure to get him back to racing he would favor that leg a bit afterward so they decided to officially retire him after a year. He is fine running and playing in the yard and the leg doesn't bother him doing that level of exercise. He would even be fine for long walks, jogs or even hikes because he is a higher energy guy. He has no restrictions. Dell has a thick fuzzy farm coat from living outside right now that is shedding out. He will be a sleek rich, deep red with gray stripes when it does. Dell did not pass his cat test so needs a home without cats. He was in a foster home with a 10lb dog and was fine with him though so should be fine in a home with small dogs. He will turn 4 on May 2nd. Dell is a happy, energetic boy that is bouncy and goofy. He did excellent on his potty training, not one mistake in the house! Dell loves to play with stuffed toys and is careful with them and doesn't tear them up. He also loves chasing a ball. He is a strong guy that is wanting to go check out everything he sees so his foster home is working on teaching him to walk on leash without pulling. Dell is very friendly and loving and will settle in the room you are in on a dog bed to stay close. This is a stunning guy that is so muscular he probably should be called Arnold. He is one of our higher energy guys which is why he got the older children only rating. He would probably be the perfect dog for a family with school age children that would want a playful fun dog. He could accidentally knock down a toddler though even though he would never intentionally hurt anyone. This is a sweet guy that would be wonderful for a home that wanted a dog to do things with like obedience or Rally. He has the energy to enjoy working and having fun with his family and isn't the typical greyhound couch potato. |

Striker was originally named Orator by his owner because he was very talkative and would sometimes sound like he was telling stories as a pup. They called him Striker at the racing kennel. He raced 96 races at 79lbs. He raced his entire career at Derby Lane in D'Arcy Kennels and was very good getting up to A level and even racing in a couple of stakes races. Striker is a very friendly happy guy that will turn 4 on August 10th. He is a very flashy black male with a white blaze on his nose and a lot of white on his chest. His sire is Group Rooster and his dam is WWW Tracey Neal. Striker passed his cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with both! |

Shelby has been in an adoptive home for years. She was originally placed by a group in Michigan but moved down here with her family. The place the family moved to here didn't allow pets over 25lbs though so Shelby is looking for a new home. She is a very sweet, friendly girl. She already has good house manners and is good with cats, small dogs and kids. Her family said that she doesn't use the crate anymore and doesn't get into anything when she is out all day. She is a quiet, laid back girl but she still loves to run and play in the yard. Shelby only has 11 races listed at the now closed Dairyland Race Track in 2006 and 2007. Her sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and her dam is Cals Undefined. Her foster family says she is very sweet and easy. Very well behaved and is a fun girl that acts much younger than she is. Because of her age Shelby qualifies for a reduced adoption fee of $200. |

Force just arrived from the Jacksonville Race track. He also raced at Southland in Arkansas and at Derby Lane in Florida. He raced 91 races and raced at 74lbs. Force's sire is TK Primetime and his dam is T Dazzle so he is a half brother of our puppy Gibbs that is also up for adoption. We also placed his sister Emo so her owner is planning to foster Force. He is a beautiful black brindle with a few brownish stripes, not orange or fawn stripes like most brindles have. He is very unusual looking and very handsome. He was raised on a farm in Jacksonville with a lake so he loves water and loves to swim. He is friendly and was raised around kids. Force is social and sweet. He didn't pass his cat test at the track so needs a home without cats but he did fine with a small 10lb white dog after a quick sniff to identify it. Force seems like a wonderful guy. |

Ed is a handsome boy that raced at one of the top tracks in the country Wheeling Downs in WV. He was a very good racer racing at A and AA levels there which is as high as a greyhound can go. Ed raced 88 races at 79lbs so is a pretty big guy. He turned 4 on October 3rd. His sire is is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is the famous Dreamy Blossom so he has very good genes. Ed passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either and he has lived with small dogs before. He also has done great with the kids he has met. He is a friendly, happy, very sweet guy. He has been in an adoptive home since November but had some separation anxiety when left totally alone without even any other dogs for company. Ed was fine in his foster home with other dogs around so we think he just needs to be placed in a home with another dog. |
